LET FREEDOM RING

The Fourth of July is a chance for us all to get together and celebrate what makes America so special.

As Americans, we have the liberty to act, speak, think and worship freely. This precious liberty was fought for and has been upheld for more than two centuries, at great cost.

As we enjoy the holiday, it’s worth remembering that we live in a nation like no other, born from a brave and courageous vision and sustained by those who believe in the American dream. When those beautiful fireworks go off on the Fourth, they remind us how fortunate we are to live in this spectacular country.

Axiom Updates

Habit for Humanity Build Day

Axiom continued its annual partnership with Habitat for Humanity Clark & Floyd Indiana when members of our team participated in the group’s Women Build Day. The house we worked on is the first of an 11-home Habitat community. Over 300 volunteers have been involved in the construction, with the goal of completing the home by mid-August. Habitat hopes to have all homebuyers in their houses in time for Christmas. The house Axiom helped build will be purchased by Robynn Webb for her and her three children. Click here to meet the family and see the Axiom team enjoying their day swapping pens and paper for hammers and drills.

2023 Synergy Conference

Axiom Financial Advisor Michelle Konkle attended the 2023 Synergy Conference in Tampa, FL. The annual event, hosted by TradePMR, is an opportunity for RIA firms to learn about new best practices and industry trends. Topics discussed ranged from cutting-edge technology to fund offererings to the non-financial side of financial planning. There was also information on new ways to enhance our internal systems to provide more efficiencies for our clients and team.

Meet Our New Intern

Last month, we introduced you to Sean Broughton, one of the two interns we’re lucky to have this summer. Now we’d like you to meet Jessie Oltman. Jessie is a graduate of Indiana University Southeast. Next up on her education list is getting a masters at IU. Her interests range from the legal side of finance to the wealth management side of the business. In her free time, Jessie dabbles in lots of fun hobbies. She’s a self-described “theater nerd” and has a very unusual pet situation at home. You’ll have to click here to learn more about that. Welcome to Axiom Jessie!

Pearls of Wisdom

Axiom CFO Leah Driver and Advisor Michelle Konkle attended the recent Pearls of Wisdom event, sponsored by One Southern Indiana. Also on the guest list were our two interns, Jessie and Sean. The guest speaker was Shannon Cogan, a popular WAVE news anchor. She shared an inspiring story of her grandparents, who were successful business owners despite being held in a California internment camp during World War II. Cogan also spoke about her son’s successful journey battling a heart condition and how the family now supports organizations funding heart research.

News You Can Use

Catch-Up Contributions

If you are an investor over the age of 50, catch-up contributions are a way to save additional money for your retirement on a tax-advantaged basis. The idea is to make up for the years you didn’t save enough, probably when you were young. The caps for catch-up contributions depend on the kind of retirement account in which you’re investing. Our advisors would be happy to discuss how catch-up contributions might benefit you. In the meantime, you can click here for some basic information on how this process works.

How Emotionally Secure Are You?

Most of us aspire to be effective, competent people—whether as an employer, an employee, a parent, a student or during any other significant stage of our lives.
