EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION DAY

March 1 is officially “Employee Appreciation Day.” At Axiom, we prefer to use the term “Team Member,” as an expression of our appreciation for their contributions to serving our clients and each other.

While it’s nice there is a day dedicated to this well-deserved recognition, we try to find big and small ways to show appreciation to our team members throughout the year. We do this by providing very comprehensive and competitive benefits, supporting professional and personal development (including making financial investments in these), offering flexibility when team members’ families need them, and much more.

On this special day, please join us in expressing our appreciation for the wonderful work that our talented team members do every day. We are truly grateful for each of them and for the opportunity to serve you!

Solar Eclipse Party

Come celebrate the solar eclipse with us on Monday, April 8. It will be a great time to get together, have some lunch and watch the astronomical phenomenon that will happen over the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The last total solar eclipse was in 2017. The event occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun, temporarily blocking the sun’s light. The eclipse begins at 1:49 p.m. and ends at 4:22 p.m. The maximum viewing time will be at 3:07 p.m. We’ll have a food truck and solar eclipse glasses—everything you’ll need for a fun and educational afternoon.

Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Project

CEO Vaughan Scott attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony in New York for the opening of the U.S. office of NEOM, an enormous Saudi Arabia-based urban development, expected to be completed by 2039. NEOM will be the world’s largest architecture project—33 times the size of New York City. The plans include a floating industrial complex, global trade hub, tourist resorts and a city powered by renewable energy sources. The massive undertaking was first announced in 2017 by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Pictured here at the NY opening is Reema bint Bandar Al Saud, the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States. Learn more about this fascinating project by clicking here.

News You Can Use

RMD Reminder

Required minimum distributions are minimum amounts that U.S. tax law requires one to withdraw annually from traditional IRAs and employer-sponsored retirement plans.

The deadline for taking your RMD is December 31 each year. For your first RMD, and only your first, you may delay taking a distribution until April 1 of the year after you turn 73. For example, if you turn 73 in June of this year, you have two choices:

  • You can take your first RMD by December 31 this year
  • You can delay taking your first RMD until April 1 next year (the year after you turn 73)

If you choose to delay, you’ll have to take your first and second RMD in the same year, which may push you into a higher tax bracket. If you have any questions, please reach out to your Axiom financial advisor.
