CIO

Justin Kepley, CFA joined Axiom in February 2025 as its Chief Investment Officer. His primary responsibilities include firmwide investment management, alternative investment due diligence and client investment consultations. His previous work also gives him broad experience in the area of mergers and acquisitions. In addition to his investment management experience, Justin holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Much of Justin’s past work has been in the healthcare field. Justin also served as Senior Director of Corporate Finance at Kindred Healthcare in Louisville.

Of Justin’s new role, CEO Vaughan Scott explains, “As we continue to devote more resources to investment management, Justin will play a key part in providing tailored services to our clients.” Justin graduated from Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelor of Science in business, finance and economics. He received his CFA designation in 2010.

Justin lives in Prospect, Ky with his three sons. Oddly, he found out after he moved there that he lives down the street from colleague Michael Elder. In his free time, Justin likes to mountain bike. Another hobby is woodworking, especially making furniture.

The Other Side of Justin Kepley

Main Responsibilities
“I will be managing the firm’s investments and its financial models. I’ll also be supporting Axiom’s advisors and speaking with clients on more complex investment topics.

What Attracted You to Working for Axiom?
“Initially when Vaughan and I started speaking, we were going in one direction as to how I could contribute to the company. This morphed over time. The intriguing part about joining Axiom was seeing Vaughan’s passion for the local community and his bold ideas about how to grow the business.”

Is there a Particular Work Success You are Particularly Proud of?
“A big milestone for me was getting my CFA designation. Becoming a Chartered Financial Analyst is a strenuous process. A previous success I had working at Adaptive Group Holdings was that I helped the company double in size (location-wise) over the course of three years. We grew from nine locations to 21.”

What Aspect of this Field do you Enjoy the Most?
“I love going into businesses, dissecting them from bottom to top and helping them become more efficient. I also enjoy helping them plan for growth and then supporting that growth.”

What was Your First Job?
“I dug ditches for my dad for many years. I joke with my kids now that he purposely had me do that so I would go to college. It was helpful to him though, because he owned an excavating company.”

How Would You Describe Yourself in Three Words?
“Intelligent, patient and caring.”

What’s a Fun Fact About You Most People Don’t Know?
“I once ran a half-marathon backward. My friend was running, and she wanted someone to run with her. But I was much faster than her, so I ran it backwards and encouraged her along the way.”
