November 2023 Newsletter

When the calendar turns to November, holidays and Thanksgiving in particular, come to mind. It is a time to give thanks for all the goodness in our lives. It’s also the perfect time to give back. One in seven people in our community are considered food insecure, meaning they lack the food necessary to live an active, healthy life.

Here are some food pantries that supply groceries and kitchens that serve meals in the New Albany area. Contact them for hours of service or for information about donating or volunteering.

AXIOM NEWS

A New Way to Look at Money

When it comes to learning about money and finance, many of us are intimidated. It can seem like a complicated topic where only those with specialized training and knowledge can truly grasp the important principals. But don’t be so sure about that. Axiom President Mike Grau is recommending a book to all his clients that one reviewer sums up by saying, “Financial success is not a hard science. It’s a soft skill, where how you behave is more important than what you know.” The book is The Psychology of Money. Click here to learn from Mike about why he wants not only his clients to read this, but their children and grandchildren as well.

Year-End News About Retirement Accounts

Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) are minimum amounts that IRA and retirement plan account owners must withdraw annually, starting the year they reach age 72 (73 if you reach age 72 after Dec. 31, 2022). While we help ensure all your RMDs with Axiom are handled, this is a reminder that if you have a retirement account outside of Axiom, be sure you meet the deadlines. Generally, you must take your distribution every year by Dec. 31 in order to avoid penalties. You can choose to delay taking your first distribution until April 1 of the year following the year you turn 73. For more information on RMDs, click here.

Holiday Office Hours

As the holiday season approaches, we hope everyone will have the chance to spend more time with their families or doing whatever brings them joy. To make this possible, we will be modifying our office hours during the latter part of November and December. Please note, we’ll make every effort to accommodate requests for appointments or meetings outside of these times, if needed. Best wishes to you and yours for a very happy and healthy holiday season!

Insuring Against Life’s Risks

There is a connection between insurance premiums and financial wealth. Don’t underestimate the value of insuring against future events that could literally change your life. Click here for some key points to remember.
