Autumn Arrives

Autum is officially in full swing, and there are lots of things to celebrate this month.

  • October 4 marks the start of Yom Kippur, at sundown.
  • October 9 is Leif Eriksson Day.
  • October 10 is a busy day, with three holidays:
    • Canadian Thanksgiving. This holiday shares many similarities with its American equivalent, but there are differences. It’s observed the second Monday in October and was originally less about celebrating the harvest and more about giving thanks for keeping early explorers safe as they ventured into the New World.
    • Columbus Dayisa federal holiday that’s also observed on the second Monday in October. It was on October 12, 1492 that Christopher Columbus landed on a small island in the Bahamas, convinced that he had reached Asia.
    • Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebrates the history and cultures of indigenous peoples native to what is today the United States. Indigenous Peoples’ Day is celebrated in cities and states across the country, often alongside or in lieu of Columbus Day.
  • October 24 is United Nations Day, which aims to bring awareness to the work of the UN across the world.
  • October 31 is Halloween!

We’re currently looking to add a financial advisorwho has at least 2-3 years of experience and is or is interested in becoming a CertifiedFinancial Planner™.  We are also in search of a retirement planspecialist with preferably 5-7 years experience and who has, is enrolled in, or is willing to acquire a professional designation such as CRPS, CPFA, QKA, AIF. It is important that these professionals have established relationships with existing clients who they would bring with them. If you know of someone you respect and trust and who might be a good fit, please reach out to Vaughan at [email protected]. Thank you again for your continued support!

Advocating for Alzheimer’s Community

Axiom was a proud sponsor of the Fading Memories, Gaining Hope Celebration, an evening to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The event took place at the Forest Discovery Center in Borden, IN. More than 6 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s. The goal of the special night was to fundraise, spread awareness and advocate for those whose memory never deserve to fade. Attending from Axiom were Leah Driver, Michelle Konkle, Vaughan Scott, Dax Whitehouse and their spouses.

Women and Wealth Seminar

Axiom co-hosted an event titled Women, Wealth and Well-Being. Axiom Financial Advisor Michelle Konkle joined local business mavens Angie Fenton from Extol magazine and Roza Segoviano of La Catrina Mexican Kitchen to share ideas and strategies for growing wealth. Some of the topics discussed were how to get organized to achieve your goals and looking beyond the financial headlines. Following the seminar, guests enjoyed ceviche, tamales, and cake pops prepared by Chef Roza and her two sons.

Oh Baby!

Last month we challenged our clients to name the team members at Axiom based on their baby photos. We are sorry to say that no one got all the correct answers! Please tell us we haven’t changed that much. 🙂

What the Fed Hike Means for You Peace

In an effort to reduce persistently high inflation, the Fed raised interest rates at the end of September by 0.75 percent, for the third straight meeting. Officials project there could be further increases coming before the end of the year. As Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell explained, “We have got to get inflation behind us. I wish there were a painless way to do that. There isn’t.” To better understand what a Fed hike could mean for you, click here.

The Cost of Procrastination

We’ve all been guilty of procrastination at one time or another. It could be as simple as delaying the oil change for your car or something much more important, like developing a financial plan. If you have a child or grandchild entering adulthood, the sooner they start preparing and saving for the future, the better. Click here for some good pointers you can share with them.
