CELEBRATE A PIONEER IN TECHNOLOGY

Did you know that a woman named Ada Lovelace is credited with being the “world’s first computer programmer?” Lovelace was an English mathematician who worked with Charles Babbage on his Analytical Engine in the 1840s.

Lovelace was a true visionary. She recognized that a computer could do more than just mathematical calculations, envisioning a future where computers could create art and music—a concept far ahead of her time.

In her honor, the second Tuesday of October is Ada Lovelace Day. This year it falls on October 14.It celebrates the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, often known as STEM. The holiday was founded in 2009 to inspire more girls to pursue careers in these areas.

This is a wonderful time to encourage the women and girls in your life to chase their dreams in the STEM fields.

“Your best and wisest refuge from all troubles is in your science.”
Ada Lovelace

Wealthy Are Investing in Sports

Family enterprises with a lot of money to spend are looking more and more to investing in sports. Many family offices view investments in sports teams as a hedge against inflation.“There’s been very little relationship and correlation between sports team values and the broader market, so people see it as an attractive diversification play,” says John Hutcheson, who along with Ivo Voynov, leads Citi Sports Advisory and Financing.
