December 2025 Newsletter

Hello December text with decorative swirls and snowflakes over a warm, blurred background with golden light and bokeh effects, creating a festive, wintery atmosphere.

DECEMBER BUCKET LIST

December always seem to fly by because most of us are extra busy. The idea of a December Bucket List gives us a chance to create some fun experiences amidst the madness. Try a few of these or think of your own. It could offer the perfect way to end the year and begin anew in January.

  • VISIT A LOCAL CHRISTMAS MARKET
  • DRIVE AROUND LOOKING AT CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
  • BAKE COOKIES WITH KIDS OR GRANDKIDS
  • VOLUNTEER AT A FOOD BANK
  • SKIP AMAZON AND BUY FROM LOCAL MAKERS
  • HAVE A HOLIDAY MOVIE MARATHON NIGHT
  • CALL SOMEONE YOU HAVEN’T TALKED TO ALL YEAR
  • MAKE AN ORNAMENT TO COMMEMORATE SOMETHING GOOD THAT HAPPENED THIS YEAR
  • HAVE A WINTER PICNIC
  • START A NEW FAMILY TRADITION

These are just a few ways to bring some fun to an otherwise hectic time. We’re sure you can think of your own bucket list items to add. Whatever you do, make peace with what didn’t happen this year. Release the guilt and start 2026 with a fresh attitude.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you all!

Young Professional of the Year

Congratulations to Brandi Pirtle, New Hope’s Housing Director, who was named Young Professional of the Year at the ONCE Awards, presented by One Southern Indiana (1si). The James W. Robinson Young Professional of the Year Award is sponsored by Axiom. It is given in memory of Jim Robinson, a successful businessman,
philanthropist and champion of young professionals. He believed it’s up to the current generation of leaders to lend a hand and provide guidance to future leaders. The award was presented by Robert Eichenberger, Robinson’s stepson. Congratulations to Brandi for her hard work in expanding housing opportunities in our community. Making a Huge Impact

Impact 100 Southern Indiana celebrated a major milestone this year. Over a million dollars has been raised by the organization that helps nonprofits in Southern Indiana, Floyd, Clark and Harrison counties. This year’s total of $170,00 (the largest yearly to date) resulted in awarding two $85,000 checks—one to Catalyst Rescue Mission and the other to Family Ark. Catalyst is the largest shelter in Southern Indiana and Family Ark provides youth with life-saving treatment for trauma, grief and substance abuse. Congratulations to all. (L to R: Abbey Fargen Riley, Natalie Oster, Leah Driver, Vaughan Scott, Anne Scott).

Welcome to the Team

We’re excited to welcome the newest member of our team—Jacqueline Scott Fitzpatrick. “Jac” graduated from Indiana University in 2023. Her degree is Bachelor of Science in Organizational & Business Psychology. Prior to joining Axiom, she was an Executive Compensation Consultant in Chicago. In her new role as Financial Paraplanner, Jac will learn the business from “the ground up”, in order to assist our financial advisors in creating plans for clients, based on their unique needs and goals. Because of her background and prior experience, she will also help us formalize our HR and training programs. We’re thrilled to have Jac onboard and hope you’ll stop by to meet her.

Local Celebration

A person wearing an apron and gloves prepares a large batch of red candy pieces on a wooden countertop in a kitchen or candy shop.

How Sweet It Is!

Our local, historic candy store, Schimpff’s Confectionery, recently held a big celebration to mark three major milestones: being named Best Candy Store in America, Warren and Jill Schimpff’s 35th year of owning and running the business, and the passing of the torch to a 5th generation of candy makers, cousin Steve. The historic candy shop, famous for its Red Hots, handed out samples and had demonstrations of the candies being made. Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore, along with other local officials, attended the event at the store on Spring Street.

Toy Safety

It’s gift-giving time and that means product safety is top of mind. With more sophisticated toys coming on the market every year, consumers should educate themselves about the dangers toys could hold and what to look for before buying them. The Colorado Public Interest Research Group (CoPIRG) has released its 40th annual Trouble in Toyland report. Click here to learn about some of the dangers and why it’s important to buy toys in person.
