- Great Fire of London: The fire began on September 2,1666. It burned down nearly 85% of the city.
- World War II Outbreak: Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939.
- V-J Day: The formal surrender of Japan ended WWII on September 2, 1945.

Building Leaders
Financial advisor Cullen Ebert is taking part in the DISCOVER program through Leadership Southern Indiana, which kicked off with a retreat in late August. Since 1981, Leadership Southern Indiana has trained more than 2,000 people in how to better to serve their communities across Clark, Floyd and Scott Counties. Over the nine-month program, participants grow as leaders by exploring the region’s economy, education and other areas of opportunity.

Jac Scott Fitzpatrick has been invited to join the Young Professionals Board of Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana. Junior Achievement is a nonprofit, which prepares students in our region to succeed, by offering hands-on programs that build financial literacy and career readiness. It’s a cause close to our hearts at Axiom, because we believe teaching students about money early sets them up for a lifetime of confident decisions. Congrats to Jac!
U of L Family Business Center Summit
Axiom was proud to sponsor the UofL Family Business Center Summit featuring Matthew Nix, President & CEO of Nix Companies, as the keynote speaker. Lindsey Nix, Director of Talent & Community Impact and Parker Huncilman of Huncilman Sheet Metal Fabrication joined Matthew on the panel. Axiom’s Vaughan Scott was the moderator of the event. The 5th generation family businesses shared lessons on navigating change while staying true to their core values.

Bourbon & Beyond
The famous 4-day festival will feature some of the biggest names in music, including Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews Band, Mumford & Sons and Kacey Musgraves. You can find festival passes, hotel packages, camping passes and merch on this website. There is also an official festival app. The popular event runs September 24-27.
Dino Day
Journey back to the age of dinosaurs with hands-on discovery. Dig into dino-mite activities, explore paleontology-themed projects and experience dinosaurs on a 4-story screen, with showings of Dinosaurs of Antarctica 3D throughout the day. All activities are free with general admission (movie tickets sold separately). September 12, 10AM to 2PM at the Kentucky Science Center. More info here.
The Monarch Festival
The Monarch Festival at Art on the Parish Green is a free event featuring the region’s most talented artists, an immersive butterfly experience, mouth-watering food trucks, beer and wine garden, children’s activities, bouncy houses and music all on St Paul’s Campus. September 12, 13 at 1015 E Main Street, New Albany.
