THE HALFWAY POINT
It’s hard to believe that we’re reaching the halfway point of 2025. June is a notable month for several reasons. It’s the beginning of summer, it’s the time many schools let out for a long break, and it’s known for a variety of holidays and observances. Here are some special things about June:
Summer Start
- This year, Friday, June 20 is the official start of summer and marks the longest day of the year.
- Celebrate Father’s Day on June 15.
- June 14 is Flag Day.
- Juneteeth is on the 19th of June. It celebrates the official emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. Juneteeth is a federal holiday. The markets will be closed and so will the Axiom offices.
Strawberry Moon
- The full moon in June is called the Strawberry Moon, a traditional name related to the short strawberry harvesting season. This year it falls on June 11.

New Rules on Inherited IRAs
When you inherit an IRA from a parent, there are special tax rules that apply to this sort of account. It’s important you stay up to date on the planning necessary to minimize your tax liability. Pay special attention to the recently enacted “Ten-Year Rule.” This rule dictates that most beneficiaries, excluding certain exceptions, must empty the account within 10 years of the original owner’s death, according to the IRS. This means all funds must be distributed, typically through annual Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), by the end of the 10th year. For more information on inherited IRAs, click here.
