Retiree Tips
Long-term care requires a plan. We can help.

Planning for long-term care is a very important part of your future. Having a specific plan will not only benefit you, but will also be a comfort to your family. Taking a methodical approach to elder care means having a clear idea of what you would want and then communicating those wishes to family members and your advisors. The more they know about your vision for your later years, the more likely your plan will be achievable. Finally, make sure you include a way to fund your vision. Nationwide, one of our leading insurance carriers, offers some excellent guidance here to help you make a successful plan.

The “Other Side” of the Axiom Team
In our series introducing you to the more personal side of our team members, this month we’re featuring Dax Whitehouse. Dax is our new Managing Director of Family & Business Advisory Services.

How do people come to the decision they need to work with someone like you?
“I think many times they have not gone through this type of process or they think they have, but actually they may have had an advisor who “softballed” things and did not address the real, underlying issues.”

What is the best business advice you’ve ever received?
“Two things come to mind: ‘Leaders get paid to have effective conversations.’ Words and the way you use them matter and affect your success. And the second is from Admiral Stockdale, who survived nine years in a POW camp. He stressed, ‘You must maintain faith that you’ll succeed, while at the same time deal with the most brutal facts of your current reality.”’
